Wedding Insurance: Better Safe Than Sorry
The day has finally arrived. You’ve been planning this event down to the very last detail for over a year; you’re confident that nothing ever could go wrong. Except it does. Best case scenario, it rains on your big day and you must rent an expensive tent for your outdoor ceremony and reception at the last minute. Worst case scenario, someone drinks too much at your reception, drives under the influence, gets in a crash, and ends up suing you. Wedding insurance exists to protect your investment in your big day from circumstances beyond your control. We also recommend that you check with each of your vendors to see if they have their own insurance, so you don’t pay for overlapping coverage.
There are two different types of wedding insurance available, which provide different types of protection for you, your venue, and your wedding. Be sure you understand the difference:
- Wedding Liability Insurance: Some venues require couples to purchase this for protection in the event of injuries, property damage, or alcohol-related accidents.
- Cancellation/Postponement Insurance: In case of unpredictable illness, inclement weather, no-show vendors, damage to gifts or to the bride’s dress, etc.
Please note that the above statement is for informational purposes only. All statements are subject to the provisions, exclusions, and conditions of the applicable policy. For an actual description of all coverages, terms, and conditions, please speak with an insurance agent.
Wedding Insurance is something that a lot of brides don’t think about. But, in our opinion, it’s better to be safe than sorry! You may regret not having insurance, but you definitely won’t regret having it.
Another completely different form of “insurance” is our free wedding planning checklist! Ensure (see what we did there?!) that you don’t miss anything by checking off each and every item!
