How To Decorate Your Wedding Dessert Table
When it comes to the dessert for your wedding, you probably think you just need a cake and you’re done. Wrong! …Wait, seriously? Yes. But don’t worry, there’s not that much more to do, but there are a couple more things you should think about. For instance, how to decorate your wedding dessert table. Even if you’ve got the cake all figured out, you still need to figure out how to display it.
Options
People love options; give the people what they want! You can absolutely spend the majority of your dessert budget on the cake of your dreams. However, consider getting multiple flavors to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. (A budget-friendly way to do this is with sheet cakes accompanying the main cake.) Or, in addition to your cake, provide options like cupcakes, donuts, cake pops, a candy station, etc.
Display
Now that you’ve got something for everyone, it’s time to think about how you’ll display it all on the dessert table. Instead of just placing everything on the table, we recommend using stands of different heights to layer the table and make it look much more aesthetically pleasing. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and get creative! We love using pegboard for a donut wall (which doubles as a fun backdrop for the table!) or a candy station with all different sized jars.
Signage
With multiple dessert options, it’s a good idea to use signs to label everything and let your guests know what’s available. Call up your calligrapher and have them create some cute labels for you! Or, this could be a fun project to DIY. You could even create a fun dessert menu sign that will get all the sweet-tooth guests super excited!
Flowers
Even though the dessert table is technically a “food table,” it should still be beautiful! The best way to do this is to incorporate flowers into the decor. You can use floral arrangements (pro tip: repurpose bridal bouquets for reception decor) as centerpieces, hang florals from the front of the table, or incorporate a floral table runner.
Personal Touch
Last but not least, don’t forget to include a personal touch! If your grandma made her famous pound cake, include that information in your signage! People love to know little tidbits of information like that, and they’ll remember those details when they think back on the day. You could also incorporate a signature dish from the region you live in. Or, the area you’re getting married in. For example, if you’re having a destination wedding in Italy, offer their famous gelato as a dessert option!
There’s no such thing as too much cake/dessert. Keep these 5 ways to decorate your wedding dessert table in mind and your dessert will look just as good as it tastes!
